PDFCHECK

PDFCheck : analyze a PDF before distribution or archiving

Inspect the technical properties that influence security, display on another position and document retention.

A visually correct document may contain unincorporated fonts, actions, attachments or metadata that merit verification.

What PDFCheck inspect

  • version, encryption, number and dimensions of pages;
  • inconsistent rotations and page formats;
  • declared and incorporated policies;
  • JavaScript, external actions, forms and links;
  • attachments and metadata of the document;
  • PDF/A declaration, output intent and marking.

Before circulation

  1. Remove unnecessary scripts and attachments.
  2. Check external links and sensitive metadata.
  3. Include the fonts necessary for a stable rendering.
  4. Open the document with several readers if the audience is varied.

Inspection without execution

Scripts, actions and attachments are identified without being opened or executed. The file is not stored after the query.

About PDF/A

PDFCheck detects statements and indices related to PDF/A, but does not provide full ISO certification of conformity. A regulated archiving process must use a specialized validator and documented procedure.
